I wouldn't feel so assured of the intentions of someone who is killing people based on a magic karma system assigning morality points to people. Which is fine, but it very transparent to me. The bias is what first informed me that the author is self imposing on the character he is writing. I'm aware, it doesn't take too much reading between the lines to see that he has a western bias based on the frequency that these people in his story are written to behave in irrational, selfish, and morally depraved ways. Author's can especially skip character development because 'oh well it all happened in a previous life'. This however is indicative of one of the larger problems with this genre. It shows that all his accomplishments are purely aesthetic for the reader to goggle at before setting up the next big attraction - they mean nothing.
I am the sorcerer king manga pt series#
The main character of this series frequently accomplishes things on an infinitely larger scale, but within 1-2 chapters nothing else is said about it. Now imagine if none of the aftermath was explored, it would make the feat lose relevance and would be an example of shallow worldbuilding. We see how it effects him on a personal level there are repercussions, story beats, it was the culmination of an arc. Take Naruto for example, after he defeats Pain we get to witness the effects of such an accomplishment across the world. It's far less about just justifying every feat, and more about exploring the effects of those feats - otherwise there is no substance to what is happening.

Are we supposed to be surprised when he says stuff like "Slavery is bad" "You should treat woman better"? Id say taking a 21st century MC, putting him in a medieval world, then applauding him for his higher moral standard is a better example of "making the MC look impressive". Everything he does feeds back into how it could help him. But other than that he is pretty much a self interested person, working towards his survival through any means. I guess he saved thousands of people and he is praised for it. Making the MC look as impressive and benevolent as possible This isn't some born and raised Korean dude. There was a part about maintaining their law or whatever.Īlso this is pretty in character for some alien god descending on earth. I don't think he cleansed the entire world. Pretty sure that part, where soldiers came down with those orders, was only about reclaiming the lawless territories.

Not the type of person that should be deciding who is morally good enough to continue living. The last arc was about corrupt politicians trying to entrap him through his teammates mom. But some OP MC running around is just effortlessly pulling crazy stuff off. I guess because even if you never see it a reincarnater had to do all the work to earn these feats at some point. On the other hand, when you have some newbie MC being OP, through infinite plot buffs or "hardwork", I find it annoying. To that MC, everything is pretty trivial, so the story glossing over things and not really justifying every feat isn't so bad. I find it pretty easy to buy into all the ridiculous stuff a reincarnater can do.
